About This Experience
Knuthenborg Safari Park is Northern Europe's largest safari park, located on the island of Lolland in southern Denmark. Set within 660 hectares of beautiful parkland surrounding the historic Knuthenborg Manor, the park offers an authentic African safari experience. The main attraction is the drive-through safari where visitors travel in their own vehicles or safari buses through extensive reserves where animals roam freely. The African savanna areas feature zebras, gnus (wildebeest), ostriches, various antelope species, camels, and exotic cattle grazing in expansive grasslands creating genuine safari atmosphere. Giraffes approach vehicles at feeding stations, providing intimate encounters. The park houses over 1,000 animals from around 40 species. Baboons inhabit a large enclosure where visitors drive through while primates climb on vehicles (aerial bridge route available for those preferring to avoid this). Tiger Forest recreates Siberian taiga with Siberian tigers viewable from safe walkways and viewing platforms winding through forest habitat. Dinosaur Forest is a unique attraction featuring life-size dinosaur models along forest trails, combining paleontology education with outdoor adventure - popular with children. The vast adventure playground includes zip lines, climbing structures, water play areas, and natural play zones. Walking trails allow exploration of the parkland, encountering animals on foot in designated safe areas. The historic English landscape garden surrounding Knuthenborg Manor provides beautiful walking routes. Lemur Forest allows visitors to walk among free-roaming lemurs in a large enclosure. The park emphasizes conservation and education with informative displays. Multiple dining facilities serve families. The combination of authentic drive-through safari, diverse attractions, beautiful landscapes, and the unique Danish setting makes Knuthenborg an exceptional family destination. Operating seasonally from spring through autumn.
