SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is the world's largest indoor marine life theme park, opened in 2023 on Yas Island alongside Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and Yas Waterworld. This next-generation aquarium represents a new direction for SeaWorld focusing on research, rescue, and education rather than animal shows. The park spans 183,000 square meters entirely indoors with climate control. The facility is organized into eight immersive realms representing different ocean environments: Endless Ocean features the park's largest aquarium tank with 25 million liters of water housing sharks, rays, and schools of fish with 360-degree underwater viewing; MicroOcean explores the tiny creatures forming the foundation of marine ecosystems with magnification technology; Tropical Ocean showcases colorful coral reef fish, sea turtles, and tropical species; Rocky Point recreates temperate coastal environments with sea otters, seals, and seabirds; Arctic showcases polar species in climate-controlled cold environments; Antarctica features penguins in frozen landscapes; Abu Dhabi Ocean highlights Arabian Gulf marine life endemic to regional waters. The park houses over 100,000 marine animals from 150 species including sharks, rays, sea lions, walruses, penguins, sea otters, and extensive fish collections. Interactive touch pools allow hands-on encounters with rays and other species. The multi-level aquarium design provides viewing from above water, at water level, and below creating comprehensive perspectives. Research and rescue facilities are integrated into the park supporting marine conservation. Educational presentations occur throughout the day explaining marine biology, conservation challenges, and rescue efforts. The park eschews traditional marine mammal shows in favor of naturalistic habitats allowing animals to exhibit normal behaviors. Advanced life support systems maintain optimal water quality. Multiple dining venues and cafes serve meals. The Yas Island location allows easy combination with other attractions.
